Sr. Systems Administrator - Hybrid Infrastructure

Now Hiring: Sr. Systems Administrator — Hybrid Infrastructure Location: Downtown Houston, TX 1+ Year contract with possibility of extension or conversion. Opportunity to get in on ground floor of a modernization project for the company. This will be the 2nd hire on the team. New office space located in centralized downtown location A growing enterprise is seeking an experienced Hybrid Infrastructure Administrator to manage, maintain, and modernize its infrastructure across both on-premises and cloud environments. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in traditional systems administration — servers, virtualization, networking, storage, Active Directory, and firewalls — alongside hands-on experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, or equivalent). This role keeps critical business systems reliable, secure, scalable, and performant while driving modernization forward. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can support day-to-day operations and lead infrastructure initiatives, with strong technical, analytical, and communication skills. What You'll Do Administer and troubleshoot on-prem server infrastructure (Windows and Linux), including OS upgrades and vendor patching Configure and manage networking and firewall rules for performance, reliability, and security Design, build, and maintain VMware virtualized environments Administer hybrid cloud across AWS, GCP, and Azure — including networking, security controls, and monitoring Develop automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) to streamline provisioning and administration Manage Active Directory, domain controllers, and Group Policy (GPOs) Administer enterprise firewalls (SonicWall and Palo Alto) Manage enterprise storage (Isilon, Vblock, VxRail, Data Domain, Avamar) Lead cloud and infrastructure migration projects from planning through delivery Manage vendor relationships and procurement Maintain clear documentation, architecture diagrams, and project updates What the Team Is Looking For 7+ years as a System, Infrastructure, or Network Administrator (or similar) Strong on-prem experience: Windows Server, Linux, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, storage, virtualization, and networking Hands-on VMware administration Experience designing and supporting hybrid on-prem/cloud environments Hands-on experience with at least one cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) Solid grasp of cloud networking, identity, security, monitoring, backup, and disaster recovery IaC experience (Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM/Bicep, Ansible, Pulumi, or similar) Scripting and automation (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar) Firewall administration experience, including SonicWall and Palo Alto Demonstrated project management experience Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to any audience Nice to Have Certifications: AWS SysOps Administrator or Solutions Architect Associate, Google Associate Cloud Engineer / Professional Cloud Architect, Azure Administrator Associate, VMware VCP, CompTIA Network+ or Security+ ITIL best practices and documentation standards DevOps and CI/CD pipeline experience Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) Monitoring and observability tools (SolarWinds, Datadog, Splunk, or similar) If this sounds like a fit — for you or someone in your network — apply or reach out directly. #J-18808-Ljbffr The Talance Group
