Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:30)

Job Description

This position is open to candidates with at least 2 years of experience in pediatric critical care and previous charge experience is preferred. First-time travelers are accepted with the required experience. The role involves floating to NICU or other units within the candidate's skill set, with orientation provided.

Travel candidates who have been separated from their previous employment for at least three months may apply, and all active compact licenses will be honored.

Responsibilities and Skills

• Administer breathing treatments and provide care for patients with chest tubes, CPAP/BiPAP, high-frequency vents, and oscillators.
• Perform procedure sedation and rapid sequence intubation (RSI).
• Conduct tracheostomy care and manage ventilated patients.
• Administer blood and blood products, as well as intravenous (IV) medications.
• Maintain and monitor central venous pressure (CVP), and perform EKGs and drain management.
• Utilize equipment such as epidural pumps, PCA pumps, and syringe pumps effectively.
• Care for patients with PICC/Central Lines and Port-A-Cath, ensuring proper access and care.
• Provide wound care and assessments, as well as manage traction and halo devices.
• Participate in interdisciplinary support, working alongside various healthcare teams, including IV teams, respiratory services, and social services.

Patient Care Details

• Patient Age Groups: Adolescents, Infants, Pediatrics
• Daily Census: 2-4 patients
• Number of Beds: 6

Certifications Required

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Preferred
• CRRT (Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy) - Preferred

Scheduling and Orientation

Weekends will be required every other weekend, and candidates can expect an orientation of 24 hours.

Important Considerations

• Travelers may be expected to float between nearby facilities as needed.
• Refusal to float may affect assignment status and earnings.
• Must commit to working three of the five major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day).
