Staff Nurse - Nursing Float Pool - Adult Critical Care Tier 3 Day Shifts

University of Iowa Health Care is seeking skilled staff nurses for their Nursing Float Pool (Tier 3) also known as the Enterprise Staffing Pool for Adult Critical Care Services. These staff nurses will circulate several services to cover critical care units at University of Iowa Health Care University Campus, and UI Health Care Downtown Campus. Key areas of responsibility include applying nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness, assessing patient health care preferences and expectations, collaboratively coordinating the continuum of care across settings, developing patient care plans based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions, implementing patient care plans according to patient priorities, documenting/reporting interventions and patient/family response, collaborating and integrating contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plans, developing, coordinating, and implementing transfer/discharge planning throughout the episode of care, implementing nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff, and following universal precautions.

Prescheduled assignments are made to cover planned vacancies, FMLAs. An anticipated 4-week schedule per assignment is provided (with the ability to cover assignments just-in-time as needed). Float within specialty areas between MCU and MCD campuses. Weekend and holiday work requirements are subject to adjustment based on manager's discretion, and the operational needs of assigned areas. Percent of time: 50% - 90%, 20 - 36 hours per week. Schedule: Day shifts with holiday and weekend requirements. Location: Iowa City, IA. SEIU Pay Plan: PD20. Tier 3 Staff Nurses receive an additional $15/hr. on all hours worked. Qualifications include an education requirement of an Associate's Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master's Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA). Required qualifications include 2 or more years of current experience with Adult Critical Care/ICU, excellent written and verbal communication skills, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions, general computer skills, including proficiency in managing multiple databases including Microsoft Excel, and a current license to practice nursing in Iowa.

Desired qualifications include a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, CRRT trained/experience, current or prior agency experience, and if Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program. A minimum of 2 years inpatient nursing experience, preferably in the last 5 years, is highly desired. Please include a resume with your submission.
