Restaurant General Manager: Lead Service, Team & Profit

General Manager Full time Management, Logan Square, Chicago, IL, US Salary Range $70,000.00 to $78,000.00 annually Job Overview The General Manager supervises the daily operations of the front of house and back of house, maintains P&L statements, trains staff, supports operational tools, ensures a safe work environment, acts as liaison between the Corporate Office and the restaurant, implements service and management philosophy, and maintains policies and procedures. Responsibilities Supervise all front of house and kitchen staff, including Assistant General Manager, Restaurant Manager, and Restaurant Supervisor. Maintain and analyze P&L statements to meet financial goals. Train staff on service techniques and maintain high standards of guest service and cleanliness. Enforce and maintain all new policies and procedures, ensuring staff compliance. Communicate with guests, vendors, and the community to handle requests, complaints, and marketing efforts. Develop and execute department training and ensure staff compliance with company policies. Create and manage staff schedules, including monthly inventories and staffing guidelines. Lead pre‑shift meetings, coaching, counseling, and performance reviews. Coordinate the hiring process for the restaurant. Handle cash reconciliation, tip reporting, and other accounting responsibilities. Maintain active relationships with the surrounding community and competitors. Qualifications Three (3) years of restaurant management experience. Well‑versed in service techniques and experienced in training staff on these techniques. Diverse front‑of‑house experience. Fluent communication skills in English (speak, read, write). Strong attention to detail, speed, accuracy, courtesy, and cooperation without supervision. Ability to maintain restaurant standards, prioritize and organize work, and direct staff performance. Ability to lead a diverse workforce through training, coaching, counseling, and progressive discipline. Ability to write staff schedules in accordance with forecasted business levels. Ability to work autonomously while following restaurant and company procedures. Ability to make timely decisions within guidance from the Director of Operations. Ability to manage labor, beverage and operating supplies within budget. Ability to work a variety of schedules and maintain punctuality and reliable attendance. Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with co‑workers and the public. Adherence to all federal, state, local, company and property health and safety standards. Liquor Awareness Certification. Desirable College graduate. Guest relations training. Additional language skills. Previous experience with POS system, preferably Toast. Ability to communicate in a second language, preferably Spanish. Physical Requirements Endure various physical movements such as reaching, extending arms over head, bending and stooping. Lift, bend, stoop, push, or pull heavy loads up to 50 lbs. Stay on feet for up to eight (8) hours at a time.
