Community Action Partnerships of Western Nebraska (CAPWN) is a non-profit community-based health and human services organization that serves low-income, disadvantaged and those unable to meet their needs through other sources. The agency was established in 1965 and provides services to over 9,000 individuals, children and families in three main areas:

• Community Health Services : WIC, Commodity Supplemental Food, Foster Grandparents, Head Start, and Child Development Center.
• Clinical Health Services : Primary Care, Reproductive Health, Diabetes Management, Immunizations, Migrant Health, Ryan White HIV; Behavioral Health including Counseling Services, Medication Management, Medication Assisted Treatment and Substance Use Counseling and Intensive Outpatient Services and Dental Services.
• Supportive Health Services : Family Stabilization, a Teen Outreach Program, SOAR, Youth Leadership Program, Youth Shelter and Housing Assistance Programs.

9-month position for CAPWN CDC

7:00AM-4:00PM

Monday-Friday

Areas of Responsibility : Implement the preschool education and parent involvement objectives through daily operation of center in accordance with Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services Childcare Licensing.

Major Duties:

1. Establish a classroom structure implementing program curriculum, developmentally appropriate practices and maintain a safe, healthy, and nurturing education environment that ensures a quality child development program for preschool children.
2. Plan and implement individualized activities to support child goals and optimally enhance growth and development.
3. Responsible for directing and mentoring staff, including communicating job expectations, providing performance reviews, timecard review and managing corrective action in collaboration with Education Manager.
4. Supervise teacher aides, floaters and volunteers in the classroom to ensure a quality child development program.
5. Interact in a skilled, respectful and sensitive manner to strengthen families as the primary nurturers of their children through improved parenting skills, emotional well-being, and progress toward family goals.
6. Partner with families and communicate to provide children with education, health and nutritional services to enhance their growth and development.
7. Provide a well-managed program that supports regular communication, program documentation, team goals and reports in a timely manner.
8. Effectively use and maintain materials, supplies, equipment, facilities and grounds; ensure facility meets local, state and federal requirements.
9. Maintain standards of confidentiality regarding program, children, families and staff.
10. Participate and contribute to the support of a quality program through participation in team meetings and program assessment.

12. Performs other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• Classroom 90%
• Off-site home visits, training, meetings and community interactions 10%
• Work is frequently stressful and requires the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Moderate level of supervision; supervises up to five staff.
• Occasional out-of-town travel for training.
• Will work some evenings and weekend meetings and training.

Physical Requirements:

• Must complete health physical upon entry to program and yearly health screenings.
• Must be able to move about, getting up and down from floor play with children.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications :

Grade 1:

1. Must be age 18 or above
2. Must have a current preschool CDA.
3. Early Childhood classes, experience in education of children ages 0-5 is preferred.
4. Requires proficient level of communication skills oral and written, teamwork and managing conflict, as well as the ability to prioritize or organize own job responsibilities.
5. Experience in working with families from various ethnic backgrounds is preferred.
6. Basic level of computer knowledge is required.
7. Current Heartsaver® Pediatric First Aid CPR AED card or must be able to acquire within three months.
8. Complete 12 contact hours of education annually in subject matter related to position.

Grade 2:

1. Must meet minimum qualifications above;
2. AA in Early Childhood education or related field.

Grade 3:

1. Must meet minimum qualifications above;
2. BA in related field

Grade 4:

1. Must meet minimum qualifications in Grade 5: 1-3 and
2. BA in Early Childhood.
