About The Position The successful applicant will function with the principles of CI including: commitment to student participation in the learning process; spirit of collegiality and collaboration; excellence in teaching; and experience working in a multiethnic, multilingual, and multicultural environment. The successful candidate will plan, develop and teach pre‑licensure Nursing Science classes in the clinical setting and the campus skills lab at the CSU's Goleta campus. Other duties include maintaining accurate student records/clinical grades, coordinating clinical instruction with other faculty, coordinating student experiences with clinical personnel, maintaining communications between the University and clinical agencies, participating in annual summation meetings, participating in curriculum development, and participating in CCNE and BRN accreditation activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to teaching and office hours. Assignment may include day, evening and weekend classes/clinical labs at the Satellite Goleta Campus. Minimum Degree Requirements A Master's degree in nursing or higher from an accredited college or university which includes courses in nursing education or administration. Required Qualifications Leadership in teaching of baccalaureate level nursing and BRN content area, as well as teaching and student learning outcomes evaluation. Possession of a current active California RN license. At least one year experience teaching courses related to Obstetrics or a course which includes practice in teaching nursing. At least two years continuous full‑time experience in direct patient care practice as an RN and at least one year of continuous full‑time experience in direct patient care practice as an RN within the last three years or eligibility for the Board of Registered Nurses approval to teach obstetrical nursing. Applicants should demonstrate the commitment to effectively work with and engage a diverse student population and evidence of how they would successfully mentor minoritized students with special focus on Latinx, Black/African American, American Indian, and Asian/Asian American/Pacific Islander students. As a condition of employment, this position will require a background check. The person holding this position is considered a "mandated reporter" under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications Ability to teach in mother/baby areas such as L&D, Mother/Baby Unit, Newborn Nursery, and outpatient settings. Excellent communication and collaborative skills. Flexibility in teaching assignments and willingness to teach on weekends, evenings and/or nights. Experience with using multiple teaching modalities in a population that includes a wide variety of multicultural learners. Responsibilities Teaching and office hours.
