A day building the brains of large-scale water systems

You arrive on the floor at Compass Water Solutions — part of CECO Environmental — ready to turn detailed schematics into fully wired, tested control panels that drive mission-critical water treatment systems. Your bench is clean and organized to 5S standards. You pull parts from Stockroom, verify them against engineering drawings, and begin routing, terminating, and labeling conductors with precision. Before lunch, you collaborate with Engineering to clarify an I/O question; by mid-afternoon, you power up, test, and document results. You wrap the day by helping the team with a production push and resetting your area for tomorrow.

What you’ll do

• Assemble and wire electrical control enclosures for large water systems.
• Interpret and follow work instructions, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Maintain an orderly workspace aligned with 5S principles.
• Support adjacent production tasks when needed.
• Handle other duties as assigned by Supervisors or Managers.

Who you’ll work with

Close collaboration with Engineering and the Stockroom keeps builds on spec and on schedule.

What you bring

• High School Diploma.
• 3–5+ years of relevant industrial experience.
• Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
• Ability to lift 40 lbs; comfortable working around paint odors.
• Willingness to work overtime, including Saturdays.
• Good English communication skills.

Preferred experience

• Electro-mechanical background with pneumatics, hydraulics, AC/DC motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, pump systems, and Allen-Bradley control platforms.
• Industrial water treatment operations exposure.

ADA Requirements:

Average Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 40 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

• Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, workspace restrictions, intense noises, and travel.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hands and fingers to feel and handle; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.

• Work in temperatures above 100 degrees and the noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.

• Repetitively bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, or crouching; walking on slippery or uneven surfaces and climbing ladders and working off elevated surfaces during shift.

• Compliance with company attendance standard. Work hours may vary during peak production cycles.
