IT Service Management Specialist

Job Description

This position is responsible for monitoring job flows controlled by the CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries) scheduling system . The jobs being run executed on either a z/OS mainframe UNIX or PeopleSoft server .

The position preferably requires knowledge of tools and utilities that run under z/OS PeopleSoft and/or UNIX . The technician must be able to respond quickly to job failures by determining the general cause of the problem and contacting the appropriate on-call staff member for remediation.

The candidate will also be required to occasionally migrate software to the production and/or test environments. Other duties included documenting problems setting up job flow dependencies and executing/troubleshooting test flows.

• Extensive experience working in Production Control with mainframe or mid-range computer
  
• Familiarity with establishing job dependencies
  
• Experience troubleshooting JCL errors using GDGs and utilities such as File-AID and IDCAMS
  
• Knowledge of CA Workload Automation DE or similar enterprise scheduling package
  
• Knowledge of z/OS JCL and TSO/ISPF
  
• Experience with mainframe compile link and bind procedures
  
• Familiarity with file transfer protocols such as FTPS and/or Connect: Direct
  
• Excellent communication (oral and written) interpersonal organizational and analytical skills
  
• Strong understanding of standard SDLC methodologies
  
• Knowledge of IMS D82
  
• Knowledge of UNIX
  
• Knowledge of PUTTY WinSCP
  
• Familiarity with Rational Tools (ClearQuest and ClearCase)
  
• Familiarity with MS-Word and Excel
  
• Knowledge of PeopleSoft People Tools (Process Monitor)
  

Experience

• 3 - 5 years of related scheduling experience with a Windows-based scheduling system.
  
• 5 years experience escalating and documenting critical job failures and schedule problems.
  
• 5 years of experience with hands-on work with executing and performing preliminary troubleshooting activities involving: scheduler batch processes and cycle flows.
  

Minimum Qual Requirements

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in computer science engineering or a related field and four years of satisfactory full-time experience related to information technology service management process management operations;
   
2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and eight years of satisfactory full-time experience related to information technology service management process management operations;
   
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above.
   

Hours/Shift: This position is a 3-day work week consecutive days 7:30 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. and includes weekends and holidays. The days worked rotate on a predetermined schedule:

• 4 weeks Mon thru Wed

Salary & Schedule

Salary: $77000.00 to $87000.00 annually commensurate with experience.

Required Skills:

20 years of experience working as an infrastructure manager in a large-scale environment. Experience with mainframe systems technologies subsystems and internals. If the candidate does not have experience with mainframe systems technologies we will also accept strong experience in AIX/Linux/Unix systems. Strong understanding of IBM mainframe z/OS operating system control structure logic and security. If the candidate does not have experience with the mainframe platform we will also accept infrastructure management of AlX/Linux/Unix systems with enterprise storage systems. Must be self-motivated able to find answers on his/her own and experienced in problem determination/analysis/resolution. Ability to work well and communicate with other departments agencies and technical support staff - including the ability to document and explain problems. Ability to complete team projects by coordinating team resources and working with other departments and the data center. Ability to plan manage time according to schedules and provide status updates required. Ability to work with staff to quickly learn new technologies and resolve issues. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well in a team environment. Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
