Support Coordinator I – Family Medicine Clinic Full Time – 8 Hour Days, Non‑Exempt (Non‑Union), Los Angeles, CA. Responsibilities Provide excellent customer service and administrative support to patients, ensuring optimum satisfaction and clinic operation. Coordinate multiple appointments across multi‑specialty clinical services, including scheduling of evaluations, diagnostics, laboratory work, and consultations. Enter and verify patient information accurately in computer systems; provide medical records to physicians and multidisciplinary teams. Verify insurance coverage, obtain authorization for visits and procedures, and gather documentation of patient benefits and funding sources. Manage clinic scheduling functions; review master schedule, anticipate changes, and maintain a well‑managed operational flow. Assist with encounter registration, referrals management, and filing of supporting documentation for billing. Handle phone coverage, distribute messages to medical personnel, read and respond to emails, and retrieve voicemail messages within 24 hours per protocol. Serve as the single point of contact for patients and caregivers, providing guidance on scheduling, paperwork, and follow‑up appointments. Coordinate and communicate patient information needs to physicians, nurses, lab staff, and other team members. Adhere to policies protecting patient confidentiality and work collaboratively with the department and hospital staff. Support the Clinic Manager with quality assurance, patient flow, data collection, and projects. Participate in audit, correction, and quality/process improvement efforts as needed. Qualifications High School diploma or equivalent. Flexibility to cover other staff members during sick leave, vacation, or leave of absence. Excellent phone, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Detail‑oriented, able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficient in computer operations, Microsoft Office, and department software. Initiative, adaptability to constant change, and willingness to accept responsibility. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a related field. At least one year of administrative or customer service experience in a medical office, preferably ambulatory care. Knowledge of medical terminology. Required Licenses/Certifications Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If not held at hire, must be obtained within 30 days and renewed before expiration.
