Position Purpose:

Provides prompt, courteous and professional service to our customers by installing, testing and maintaining metering systems consistent with Company policies and management objectives. The employee shall be required to successfully complete a training program to demonstrate proper working techniques and practices in accordance with U.W.U.A./B.U.W. Agreement, Local #B340.

Principal Accountabilities:

End Results

Correctly read, connect, disconnect, remove and install all single phase and network self-contained watt-hour meters.. Correctly read gas meters.

Learn the understanding and ability to perform the proper programming of (AMI) automatic meter infrastructure meters and (AMR) automatic meter reader devices.

Perform shop testing of all electric meters, including data entry of test results into the CIS and the AMI systems. Learn to perform the field testing of single phase self-contained meters. 

This position requires good customer relations and knowledge of company equipment in the field. This includes contacting the customer through the use of the company provided cell phone to communicate projected time of arrival for customer requested call-ahead appointments. Accurate documentation is required to ensure proper billing to our customers.

Learn and progress in the performance of electric meter work orders including shutoff for non-payment work orders.

Learn company computer based metering programs such as FCS, CIS, AMI and MDS

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Maintain a valid license based on the requirements of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and/or the State where the employee resides.
• Learn the company Safety Rules and Company Policies and procedures. Become familiar with the Company’s Tariff and the DPU rules and regulations for electric service.
• Be available to respond to overtime work, trouble calls, and system emergencies as requested.
• Reside within a specified geographical area as defined by the collective bargaining agreement.

HOURS : Hours shall be Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. 

WAGE :  Ultimate rate - $38.51 per hour, for a 40 hour week. Overtime rates in accordance with UWUA Agreement, Local #B340.
