Nurses are trained to care for medical patients with the plan to train as a progressive level of care nurse within six months of completing MedSurg orientation. MP4 nurses care for a variety of illnesses and procedures making it the perfect place to see a wide variety of disease processes while growing skills and critical thinking.Nursing skills gained on this unit:Patient assessmentTime managementAbility to grow into PCU levelEnd of life careCritical thinkingPatient and family educationUnit success/designations:Magnet facilityJoint Commission Stroke CertifiedUnit culture/highlights:10-week new graduate orientation with specific training to develop critical thinking skillsMentorship program for new graduatesTraining for NIH Stroke CertificationTraining for chemotherapy administration if interestedAble to sit for four nurse certifications (stroke, med/surg, PCU, oncology)Qualifications:Requires an Associates of Nursing (ASN); Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.Education: The Registered Nurse (RN) must have graduated from a nationally accredited nursing program. Exceptions: Candidates who have not graduated from a nationally accredited program may be considered if they possess more than two years of acute care experience.
