Special Education Mild Intervention- Elementary

Description Develop curriculum to meet developmental goals and instructional activities Use procedures to post syllabus, projects/lessons, and grades to the server accessible to students, parents, and the community Maintain a classroom environment consistent with established codes of conduct and conducive to positive learning Use rubric-based authentic assessment methods to evaluate student progress and adapt individual programs to meet student needs Exercise open and respectful communication with families, co-workers, supervisors, and other school staff Measure progress and accomplishments of students towards their academic achievements on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required Communicate electronically with students, parents, and other staff members concerning student academic progress, attendance, and behavior Serve as a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team in determining the appropriateness of special education services Attend conferences and workshops in order to further advance professional development Work cooperatively with other personnel to improve instructional programs and the overall operation of the school Provide a safe, thriving, and respectful environment for all students in the classroom and on the school campus Perform other duties as assigned General Skills And Qualifications The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Specific Responsibilities In This Position Perform all other duties as assigned Specific Skills And Knowledge For This Position Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Google, etc School City of Hammond Student Information System software Knowledge of Special Education laws, policies and procedures, Article 7 and IDEA Ability to work well with students with disabilities Qualifications And Education Requirements Bachelor's degree from an accredited university Must hold valid Indiana State Teacher's License or be eligible for a license for corresponding age/grade level Certification in Mild Intervention and /or Intensive disability area (MI, MO, ED, SLD) Knowledge of IIEP system Highly developed oral and written communication skills Ability to build relationships effectively and professionally with families and students Experience developing and implementing curriculum Physical ability to handle frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and moving throughout the room Proven ability to maintain a safe and studious classroom environment Demonstrated ability to develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum Personal Attributes Desired Dependability Confidentiality Ability to work with others Ability to work independently Ability to meet assigned deadlines required by special education laws It is the policy of the School City of Hammond not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability in its programs or employment policies as required by the Indiana Civil Rights Act (I.C. 22-9.1), Title VI and VII (Civil Rights Act of 1964), the Equal Pay Act of 1973, Title IX (Educational Amendments), and Section 504 (Rehabilitation Act of 1973). #J-18808-Ljbffr School City of Hammond
