Heavy Equipment Fleet Service Technician

About the Role

Absolute Jobs is partnering with a heavy equipment organization in Naples, FL to hire a seasoned Fleet Service Technician who keeps machinery, vehicles, and equipment ready for prime time. You’ll blend preventive maintenance with expert diagnostics to ensure uptime across the fleet.

A Day in the Life

Kick off with scheduled PMs, then pivot to diagnostics on diesel, hydraulic, or electrical systems as needed.
Use schematics and diagrams to pinpoint faults; recondition, adjust, and repair components to spec.
Complete accurate service paperwork for each unit you touch and communicate labor estimates to your supervisor promptly.
Coordinate parts: track orders, follow up on backlogs, and keep jobs moving.
Keep tools compliant and safe to use in accordance with MSHA and OSHA regulations; alert the Service Manager to any unsafe shop tools, equipment, or vehicles.
Join training directed by the Service Manager to stay sharp on new systems and best practices.
Tackle engine troubleshooting independently; contribute occasional programming tasks (e.g., controller/ECM-related).
Lift up to 50 lbs on occasion as part of normal shop and field tasks.

What You Bring

10+ years as a technician or a recent technical school degree.
Your own set of professional hand tools.
Deep knowledge of heavy construction equipment across multiple makes and models.
Advanced proficiency reading schematics and technical diagrams.

Core Competencies

Repairing heavy equipment and performing comprehensive maintenance.
Strong mechanical troubleshooting and root-cause diagnostics.
Hydraulic systems: circuits, components, and controls.
Diesel engines, including modern systems and aftertreatment.
Vehicle and fleet welding for structural and component repairs.
Integrated diesel/heavy equipment systems and electrical diagnostics.
Reading and applying electrical schematics to service tasks.
