Lab Tech

Job Responsibilities Performs waived and moderate high‑complexity testing according to CLIA ‘88 guidelines; interprets and reports results for established tests and examinations in at least one of the following fields within the clinical laboratory: Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Chemistry, and Microbiology. Performs quality control, quality assurance and maintenance. Works independently but under the supervision of the department coordinator or a certified technologist/technician. Duties may also include clerical tasks and related laboratory services. Also performs microbiology sample processing and rapid testing. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Associate's degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution. At least 60 semester hours or equivalent from an accredited institution that at a minimum includes either 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include six hours each of chemistry and biology, or twelve hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination. Completion of an approved or accredited clinical laboratory training program or three months of documented laboratory training in each specialty in which the individual performs high‑complexity testing.
