Shady Grove Medical CenterIf you are a current Adventist HealthCare employee, please click this link to apply through your Workday account.Shady Grove Medical Center seeks to hire an experienced Nurse Educator (RN) for our OR/Endo department who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental and spiritual healing.Qualified candidates will be eligible for a $10,000 sign-on bonus.(*Current AHC employees not eligible – see below under additional details.)As an Education Specialist, you will:Report directly to the Director of Professional Development and PracticeOversee Onboarding/Orientation of newly hired staffOngoing assessment of competency and evaluation of performanceProvision of continuing nursing educationIdentify practice gaps and learning needsDevelop an appropriate education plan based on professional practice gaps and learning needsAssist nurses in preparation for certification in a specialtyCoordinate, facilitate, and evaluate activities that promote professional role developmentPerform as a nurse planner and provide contact hours for educational offeringsActs as a subject matter expert for policy and best-practice developmentQualifications include:Required:BSN (MSN preferred)4-5 years of perioperative nursing experience, including Operating Room circulator responsibilities experience recommendedExperience supporting a range of surgical procedures (e.g., general, orthopedic, GYN, neuro, oncology, endoscopy)Strong communication skills, both written and verbalPreferred:Background in surgical technology or collaboration with surgical tech teamsExperience in education, training, or precepting clinical staffLeadership experience such as charge nurse or team leadSpecialty certification (or interest in obtaining)Familiarity with AORN standards and perioperative best practicesEngagement with professional organizations (e.g., AORN, Association of Surgical Technologists)Work Schedule:SGMC performs approximately 11,000 surgeries annually. Surgical Services team members include nurses, surgical technicians, surgical assistants, and others with variable shift times.
