Director, Global Regulatory Affairs

Regulatory Affairs Manager Responsible for monitoring, interpreting, and influencing regulatory and standards requirements that impact HVAC products and systems within the West Coast region, primarily California. This role leads the company's state legislative strategy and advocacy efforts, engaging with legislative bodies and supporting regulatory matters. Acting as a key liaison among engineering, government relations, communications, manufacturing, legal, and external regulatory bodies, the manager provides strategic guidance to support policy initiatives, market access, and long-term objectives. The position also represents the organization in industry associations and standards committees, proactively influencing regulatory developments and assessing business impact. Responsibilities Lead state legislative monitoring, analysis, and advocacy efforts, with an emphasis on California and other West Coast states. Draft and deliver concise legislative analyses, impact assessments, and strategic recommendations for senior leadership. Coordinate and execute legislative lobbying activities, including management of contract lobbyists, meetings with policymakers, and follow‑up advocacy actions. Prepare executive briefings, presentations, and internal communications on priority legislative and policy initiatives. Collaborate cross‑functionally with Regulatory Affairs, Engineering, Communications, Manufacturing, and Legal teams to ensure aligned advocacy positions. Provide regulatory insight and support related to rulemaking, energy efficiency programs, incentive initiatives, and state‑level standards. Represent the company in trade associations, coalitions, stakeholder meetings, and public policy forums. Coordinate with trade organization legislative lobbyists. Maintain internal tracking systems for legislation, regulatory activity, and advocacy priorities. Support special projects and strategic initiatives aligned with North American government affairs strategy. Prepare and submit reports to senior management, as required. Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of state and federal legislative processes, particularly in California and the West Coast. HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) industry knowledge. Ability to comprehend written code requirements and governmental regulations. Skill in maintaining cooperative working relationships with other personnel. Aptitude for recognizing and dealing with priorities. Effective communication skills with employees at all levels, both verbal and written. Strong analytical and technical writing skills. Good judgment in investigating problems. Experience 5+ years with a Bachelor’s degree, or 3+ years with a Master’s degree. Education Bachelor’s Degree minimum in business, engineering, or other technical science. Physical Requirements / Work Environment Must be able to perform essential responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodations. Travel approximately 25% of the time, varying as needed. Reports To General Manager of the Daikin US CA Office. Pay Range $120,000.00 to $145,000.00 per year.
