We cater logistics strategies and processes to our customers' needs by utilizing the latest information systems and advanced technologies.Job DescriptionPerform minor bodywork, priming, and paint vehicles back to factory standards as well as wet sand and buff vehicles after the refinishing process. Must be available for overtime.ResponsibilitiesPrimary:Prep Vehicles • Inspects body work prior to painting and prep vehicles for paint • Applies masking tape over parts and areas that are not to be coated • Inspect vehicle damage • Apply mask tape over vehicle parts • Buffer • Sand • Primer • BondoPaint Vehicles to Factory Standards • Check color codes selects toners and mixes paint and performs spray outs of all colors being used. • Sprays surfaces of vehicles back to factory standards then applies clear coat. • Use of PPG Color Match System • Inspect body work prior to painting • Mix paint to produce desired color • Paint vehicle inside Heated spray booth (temp of 90-160 F)Secondary:Tool & Material Maintenance • Cleans spraying equipment with solvent • Clean spraying equipment with solvents • Disposal of paint / materialsOther duties as assigned • Assist in other production departments as needed.Compensation Range$30.26 - $31.44 per hourEducation & ExperienceHigh School Diploma/G.E.D RequiredMinimum 3 years of experience in automotive paint requiredPPG Envirobase and PPG Colormatch System trained requiredMust hold a valid state-issued driver's license without restrictions RequiredKnowledge and SkillsUnderstanding of Factory Paint StandardsUnderstanding of best practice regarding Body Shop prepping and paintingUse of hand-held and power tools requiredAbility to drive both automatic and stick shift vehicles RequiredQuality Control Analysis - Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance requiredUsing logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems requiredPhysical RequirementsConstantly use right and left foot controlsConstant use of right and left hands for simple and firm graspingConstant use of right and left hands for fine manipulationConstant lift and carry usual 15 lbs, max 35 lbsStand, walk 5+ hours per dayClimb, reach over shoulder, kneel, balance, push, pull, squat, crawl, jump 1-3 hours per dayDrive, bend, stoop, crouch frequently 3-5 hours per dayWorking and Environmental ConditionsWill be working with Buffer Machine, PPG Color Machine, and scannersThis position works in a plant manufacturing/warehouse setting at Port Hueneme, CAExposure to loud noises from vehicles and heavy machineryExposure to indoor and outdoor weather conditionsExposure to chemicals/fumes and paint boothThe information contained herein is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of duties and responsibilities of the job, nor is it intended to be an all-inclusive list of skills and abilities required to do the job.
