- Payroll Administration: Track PTO, overtime, and unpaid leave; assist with monthly attorney distribution checks and deductions; prepare and file federal/state payroll taxes and Department of Labor statistics.
- Accounts Payable: Process vendor checks, expense reimbursements, and mileage; reconcile checking, trust, and bank accounts; manage the firm's petty cash and 1099 vendor data.
- Accounts Receivable & Billing: Handle daily receipts and phone payments; process electronic billing for insurance clients; generate and mail client statements.
- Tax Compliance: Track, prepare, and pay South Dakota sales tax; produce year-end W-2s and 1099s.
- Maintain organized digital and physical files within the firm's systems.
- Run mandatory conflict checks and seamlessly onboard new clients and matters.
- Handle monthly system closings and compile year-end data for the firm's accountant.
- Troubleshoot accounting issues as they arise and provide backup for AP/AR tasks.
- Maintain absolute confidentiality in alignment with the attorney code of ethics.
- Provide courteous, helpful, and professional communication to clients and colleagues alike.
- Education: Associate degree (AA) in Accounting or Finance required ; Bachelor's degree (BS) is highly preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of hands-on bookkeeping or accounting experience.
- Tech Skills: Proficiency with accounting software, database management, and Microsoft Office (especially Outlook and Excel).
- Traits: Laser-sharp attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and a professional demeanor.
- $19-$22/hr
- Paid every Friday
