ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Provide a comprehensive program of school nursing services including assessment, health screening, direct and consultative services, management of immunization and communicable disease control responsibilities and referral activities related to student health and wellness. Collaborate with sending schools, including school nurses, counselors, and administrators, to obtain and review individualized health plans (IHP’s), Section 504 plans, IEPs, and emergency action plans for students with acute and chronic conditions. Enter student health records into Qmlativ and ensure timely distribution to teaching staff. Maintain a basic knowledge of applicable laws and nursing practice regulations and standards. Consult, collaborate, and advocate as a professional liaison with staff, parents, healthcare community, and other professionals to assess student health status and make recommendations or referrals. Supervise, train and delegate medication administration, nursing treatments or health services, as allowed by law at assigned school(s). Perform professional nursing tasks including emergency services, first aid and CPR. Utilize an inclusive communication approach to create a supportive and effective communicative environment. Ability to become proficient navigating internal and external data systems, including data entry and report production or generation pertinent to delivery of school health services. Perform other job‑related duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree. Valid Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license. ESA Certification or eligibility for ESA certification. Current CPR with First Aid. Successful completion of Washington State Patrol background check. Employee is responsible for cost of the background check. School nursing experience and/or background in common pediatric and school health problems, community health, pediatric growth and development and handicapping conditions preferred. Possess good communication skills both orally and in writing. Must have regular, consistent attendance. Experience working with children and families who are culturally, linguistically, and racially diverse. Ability to handle information and confidential matters in a professional manner. Ability to learn and operate computers and software systems. Ability to remain flexible to changing situations and prioritize duties. Qualifies for a Type II Driver's License.
