Auditor TRAINEE

Auditor Trainee Suffolk County Government is currently seeking Auditor Trainees. After one year of continuous service as a permanent competitive Auditor Trainee with the municipality or department, the incumbent achieves permanent competitive status as an Auditor. Work includes reviewing accounting documents, verifying financial transaction reconciliations, and reviewing detailed statements and reports. Key Responsibilities Assists in preparing audit reports and making recommendations for changes and improvements in accordance with findings. Examines accounting records to assure validity and legality of transactions. Verifies accuracy of recorded transactions and reconciles accounts. Verifies vouchers, purchase orders, and inventories. Corrects errors and deviations from regular procedures. Prepares work papers and reports of audit findings. Benefits Health Insurance: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from a college with federally authorized accreditation or registration by NY State, with at least 24 credit hours in Accounting.
