PART-TIME LIBRARY ASSISTANT

Job Summary The Kenilworth Public Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant who is a service-oriented, enthusiastic, flexible and tech-savvy to join the library team. This position performs routine circulation duties, delivers exceptional customer service, provides basic technology assistance and instruction, and assists with library programs and activities. Shifts range from morning to evening and include Saturdays. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written) Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationship with co-workers Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions Ability to pay attention to detail and organizational skills Requires physical agility and strength to bend, reach, lift and carry (up to 50 lbs.), and push/pull loaded book carts when shelving Ability to withstand extensive standing while working Ability to work with children Knowledge of Windows environment, G-Suite, use of e‑mail, standard Office computer programs and various devices Provide reference and reader’s advisory services Assist patrons with use of library materials and equipment Conduct and assist with programs and special events Assist in maintenance of exhibits, posters and displays Assist in maintenance of Adult and Juvenile Collection Handle all aspects of circulation, including check‑out, check‑in, fines processing, new library card registration, including card renewal and hold requests for materials Shelve read and edge materials Provide technology instruction/education for library patrons Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent education required Exceptional customer service and technology skills Proficiency in Microsoft Office, G-Suite, online search tools and content management systems Ability to assist with computer maintenance and updates Ability to learn and adopt new technology Public library experience preferred Desirable: Bilingual (English/Spanish) This position pays $15.92 per hour.
