Research Specialist

Koehler Lab, Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research, to impact medicine by expanding the repertoire of druggable targets and developing new technological solutions to solve bottlenecks in the drug discovery process. The Koehler Lab conducts cutting-edge research at the new frontiers of biological engineering and chemical biology. It includes biologists, chemists, engineers, and physician scientists who ensure a fluidity of research that promotes cross-disciplinary discovery. Responsibilities include assisting with coordination of multi-institutional project team meetings and scientific retreats, writing and/or editing manuscripts, abstracts, grant and foundation applications, correspondence, special reports, and letters; assisting lab members with research fellowship applications, presentations, and manuscripts; coordinating publications, including appropriate acknowledgments per funding requirements; liaising with funding agencies, providing progress reports, financial plans, and final reports; advising investigator of the lab's short- and long-term needs and identifying possible solutions/alternatives; liaising with safety and regulatory offices; assisting with job searches for technical and postdoctoral staff positions; ensuring the laboratory's work is covered by all regulations; working with central MIT administrative offices on patents and intellectual property, KI executive director's office on communications and development issues, and KI headquarters on grant applications and follow-up; and maintaining and updating laboratory website.
