Float Medical AssistantAdvanced Pain Care is hiring a float Medical Assistant for our Round Rock/North Austin area clinic locations. The Medical Assistant (MA) assists in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician and/or mid-level provider. Helps patients by providing information, services and assistance.Duties and responsibilities include:Greeting patients, introducing self, and escorting to exam room.Verifying patient information, medical history, medications, and confirming purpose of visit.Interviewing patients, measuring vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and recording information on patients' charts.Drawing and collecting blood samples from patients and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis.Preparing treatment rooms for examination of patients.Securing patient information and maintaining patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records.Completing diagnostic and procedure coding as required/needed.Counseling patients by transmitting physician's orders and questions about surgery.Scheduling surgeries by making arrangements with the surgical center; verifying times with patients; preparing charts, pre-admission and consent forms.Maintaining a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the medical field including basic medical terminology.Practicing safe habits including but not limited to infection control, lifting procedures, etc.Presenting a professional image and customer focus.Practicing teamwork by helping others willingly and communicating in a professional manner.Keeping supplies ready by inventorying stock; placing orders; verifying receipt.Keeping equipment operating by following operating instructions; troubleshooting breakdowns; maintaining supplies; performing preventive maintenance; calling for repairs.Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications.Serving and protecting the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.Enhancing practice reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.Operating standard office equipment (e.g. copier, personal computer, fax, etc.).Having regular and predictable attendance.Adhering to Advanced Pain Care's policies and procedures.Performing other duties as assigned.Requirements:Education: Requires a high school diploma or GEDExperience: One or more years' experience preferredKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Clear and precise communicationAbility to pay close attention to detailEffectively manages day by organizing and prioritizingPossesses excellent phone and customer service skills and abilitiesProtects patient information and maintains confidentialityKnowledge of general medical terminologyOrganizational skills and ability to identify, analyze and solve problemsWorks well independently as well as with a teamStrong written and verbal communication skillsInterpersonal/human relations skillWorking conditions:Environmental Conditions: Medical Office environmentPhysical Conditions:Must be able to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of timeMust be able to bend, stoop and stretchMust be able to lift and move boxes and other items weighing up to 30 pounds.Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate office equipment, etc.
