J.C Electric, Inc. is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Lighting Designer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about lighting, design, and the electrical industry and wants to grow their technical and creative skills in a hands-on environment.

The Junior Lighting Designer will assist with developing lighting concepts, layouts, product selections, and documentation for residential, commercial, and/or architectural projects. The ideal candidate is organized, eager to learn, comfortable working with design software, and able to collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, electricians, and other members of the design team.

Key Responsibilities

* Assist with the development of lighting designs and layouts based on project requirements, architectural plans, and client preferences.

* Prepare lighting plans, schedules, specifications, and other project documentation.

* Assist with selecting appropriate lighting fixtures, lamps, controls, and related products.

* Review architectural drawings, electrical plans, elevations, and reflected ceiling plans.

* Support senior designers and project teams throughout the design and installation process.

* Communicate with vendors and manufacturers to obtain product information, specifications, pricing, and availability.

* Coordinate lighting designs with electrical requirements, architectural elements, finishes, and overall project goals.

* Participate in client meetings and presentations as needed.

* Revise designs based on client, architect, contractor, or project-team feedback.

* Help ensure designs meet applicable electrical codes, project specifications, and company standards.

* Maintain accurate project files, product information, and design documentation.

* Visit job sites when needed to review existing conditions, assist with field verification, or support installation coordination.

* Stay current on lighting products, technologies, controls, energy-efficiency practices, and industry trends.

Qualifications

* 1–3 years of experience in lighting design, interior design, architecture, electrical design, or a related field preferred.

* Associate's or bachelor's degree in lighting design, interior design, architecture, electrical engineering, or a related discipline is a plus.

* Strong interest in lighting and the electrical/design industry.

* Ability to read and understand architectural and electrical drawings.

* Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar design software preferred.

* Strong computer skills and willingness to learn new software and technology.

* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

* Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.

* Willingness to learn electrical and lighting standards, codes, and best practices.
