Lifeguard PositionYou will guard our state-of-the-art recreational and lap pools, both indoor and out. Your typical day could include monitoring the pool deck during pool operation hours, checking water quality and maintaining safety environment.You are a safety minded, customer service-oriented person with previous lifeguarding experience, who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. You have the ability to communicate clearly and pride yourself on your excellent customer service skills and strong work ethic.What You'll DoGreet, acknowledge, and interact with membersSupervise swimming activities at the aquatics facility and ensures that policies, guidelines, and safety procedures are followedWarn swimmers of improper activities or danger and enforces pool regulations and water safety policiesRescue swimmers in danger of drowning and administers first aidEnsure swimmers are aware of potentially dangerous swim areas and activitiesAct quickly and professionally in emergency situationsKeep the pool area clean and orderly to ensure the safety of the membersInstruct and assists classes in fundamentals of swimming as neededAttend mandatory meetings and training sessionsNever turn your back on the poolNever leave swimming pool unattendedEvaluate conditions for safety and initiates aquatics emergency action plan as requiredInspects pool facilities, equipment, and water to ensure that they are safe and usableAssists in cleaning the pool and hot tubAssists in water chemical tests and record them in pool log bookFill out incident reports as neededOur RequirementsMust be 17+ years oldMinimum of six (6) month of related work experienceAvailable to work morning, afternoon, evening, weekend & holiday shiftsSwimming proficiency in all types of water conditionsPreferred Requirements:American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalentAmerican Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalentAmerican Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalentKnowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policiesAbout UsThe Jewish Community Center of Staten Island was founded in 1929 with the goal of creating a home for the Jewish community by offering social, recreational, and educational activities.
