Job Description
Opportunity available for a Pediatric Radiologist at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, ranked the Best Hospital in Dallas-Fort Worth, and Children's Health, ranked in all 10 pediatric subspecialties by U.S. News & World Report. This individual will make a significant impact in the field of Pediatric Radiology through faculty development and new research initiatives in the Pediatric Radiology Division.
The candidate will have dedicated research academic time and is expected to initiate and manage research projects; generate new ideas and proposals; identify strategic funding opportunities; and lead by building Pediatric Radiology faculty investigators into effective teams. The candidate will serve as a mentor to the current faculty to increase the number and quality of research endeavors, and will also connect interested Diagnostic Radiology trainees and medical students with Pediatric Radiology faculty investigators, and ensure all clinical research is coordinated with the Radiology Clinical Research Office. Clinical duties include interpreting the full range of pediatric radiology examinations, in addition to providing consultation to referring physicians and patients. The candidate is expected to be superior in all aspects of pediatric radiology and capable of teaching trainees. Clinical service is provided to Children's Medical Center Dallas, a 490-bed tertiary pediatric hospital and Level 1 trauma center, Children's Medical Center Plano, a 72-bed community hospital, and multiple outpatient imaging centers throughout the region. Children's Medical Center Dallas has two Siemens Skyra 3T MR scanners and three 1.5T scanners which are a mix of Philips and Siemens, Siemens FLASH CT, PET-CT, and two dedicated pediatric IR suites. Two of the magnets at the Dallas campus are being replaced with Seimens 3T scanners, including a planned Prisma. Additionally, there are two offsite MR scanners, a 1.5T and a 3T. Ultrasound equipment was recently updated with the initiation of contrast-enhanced urosonography, as well as the use of intravenous contrast. Elastography using both MR imaging and ultrasound is currently offered. Research support is provided by an onsite dedicated MR physicist, a Master Research Agreement with Siemens Medical Systems, and the Radiology Research program at UT Southwestern, which includes biostatistical and logistical support. Children's Health has strong pediatric surgery, oncology, and orthopedic services, as well as all pediatric surgical and medical subspecialty groups. The emergency department is one of the busiest in the nation and is currently undergoing renovated. Faculty benefits include an excellent healthcare plan, competitive salary and retirement benefits. A convenient on-campus transportation system ensures mobility between the various clinic locations across the expansive campus. Nearby daycare is also available. The candidate must have a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree or foreign equivalent, have completed an ACGME-accredited fellowship in pediatric radiology, and be American Board of Radiology-certified. Eligibility for full Texas medical license and its acquisition prior to start of employment is required. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.
