Material Handler

Job Title

Position Purpose: Responsible for moving material to maintain process flow

Hourly or Salary Range: $18.25 - $21.35 (2nd shift $19.15 - $22.25)

Essential Functions

• Maintain Environmental, Health and Safety standards in the workplace
• Moves material in and out of the department
• Places material at stations
• Stacks material neatly in inventory
• Loads steel into Un-coilers
• Empties scrap hoppers
• Removes wrapped skids from the line and puts away into inventory
• Replaces shrink wrap rolls on wrapper
• Places labels on wrapped skids
• Other job duties may be assigned

Education and Training

• High School Diploma or GED
• Forklift operation experience helpful

Minimum Qualifications

• Ability to read and write
• Good communication skills
• Must be able to work independently and also work well with others

Physical Demands

• Must be able to sit continuously for 8-12 hours
• Must be able to continuously move on and off the forklift
• Specific vision abilities are required including close, distance, peripheral vision and depth perception
• Must be able to lift 20 pounds repetitively
• Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to twist, bend and lift repetitively
• Good hand/eye coordination and good motor skills
• Ability to work outdoors for an extended period in extreme weather conditions
• Demonstrates dependability and adherence to all safety rules and regulations

Environmental Conditions

• Ear and Eye protection always required in all production areas
• Exposure to noisy work environment
• Exposure to hot and humid conditions
• Exposure to extreme weather conditions
• Exposure to coolants, oils, grease and water
• Steel toe boots with metatarsal guards always required
