Senior Software Systems Engineer

Position Overview Senior Software Systems Engineer – Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) – B-52H Software Systems team, Oklahoma City, OK. 100% onsite. Provides overall leadership for software system design, development, analysis, and support for the historic B-52H bomber aircraft, ensuring safe, qualified, mission‑capable software for the United States Air Force. Responsibilities Oversee the design, development, analysis, and maintenance of software systems meeting industry, customer, and internal quality, safety, security, and certification standards. Partner with stakeholders to define systems and translate system‑level requirements into traceable software requirements, models, design, code, and test artifacts. Conduct software system‑level analyses to identify risk, issues, and opportunities; drive integration and deployment of mitigation actions throughout the software lifecycle. Lead code reviews to ensure alignment with requirements and standards. Monitor and review test completion, verification processes, and issue resolution. Develop user documentation and training to educate end users. Review product and process alignment with project plans and industry standards, consulting on internal team and supplier performance. Research and oversee implementation of current and emerging technologies, tools, frameworks, and regulatory changes relevant to software development. Manage software project activities and supplier management. Basic Qualifications (Required) Bachelor’s Degree. Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (post‑start required). 10+ years’ experience creating and documenting software architecture and designs. Experience leading engineering teams across multiple functions. Experience with data analysis and/or data mining. Preferred Qualifications (Desired) 14+ years related experience (or 18+ years with a Bachelor’s Degree; 22+ years with a Bachelor of Science in an accredited engineering or related field). Lockheed or defense contracting experience. Experience developing and presenting Preliminary and Critical Design Reviews. Experience with Interface Design / Interface Control documents. Proficiency in Ada, JavaScript, C++, C#, Python, SQL, or equivalent. Bomber experience (B‑1, B‑2, B‑52) and/or B‑52 military operations. Experience with Link‑16 and weapons data link networks, including architecture and messages. Knowledge of weapons, POD, radio communications, navigation, and radar operations. Other Requirements Must comply with Pilot Conflict of Interest assessment. Must be U.S. Citizen, as required for a U.S. Secret Security Clearance.
