Manager, Data Engineering & Analytics

Role Description

As the Manager of Data Engineering & Analytics, you will report to the Vice President of Business Intelligence and lead The Helper Bees' Data Engineering and Analytics team, responsible for both the technical execution and strategic direction of data across the company. Your leadership will be key in ensuring the team produces accurate, governed, and on-time data reports, invoices, and analyses that our internal leaders and external partners depend on.

• Manage and develop a high-performing team of Data Engineers and Data Analysts.
• Guide career growth, performance, and skill development of team members.
• Own the team's intake, prioritization, and delivery of work.
• Help the team move up the analytics maturity curve — from descriptive reporting toward predictive and prescriptive analytics.
• Guide the team in building machine-learning models to strengthen forecasting and develop algorithms.
• Participate in executing the data strategy, reviewing designs, unblocking pipelines, and making tradeoff calls.
• Foster an environment of mentorship, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Work closely with leaders from Product, Accounts, Operations, and the C-suite.
• Ensure careful handling of protected health information (PHI).

Qualifications

• Proven experience in crafting, communicating, and promoting strategic direction for a data team.
• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Ability to lead change management initiatives and influence key stakeholders.
• Strong data analysis and presentation skills.
• Extensive experience with SQL and data engineering.
• Experience owning an intake and prioritization process.
• Working knowledge of machine learning and data science.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development and analytics tooling.
• Experience managing or transitioning work from external consultants/vendors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data analytics, data engineering, or a related data discipline.
• 2+ years of hands-on experience as a Data Engineer or in a highly technical data role.
• 2+ years of direct people-leadership experience.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex data initiatives from strategy through delivery.
• Experience delivering predictive/prescriptive analytics or machine-learning models preferred.
