Infection Control Data AbstractorInfection Control Data Abstractor works under the direction of the Infection Control Practitioner and is accountable for abstracting, compiling, monitoring and reporting data from multiple electronic and non-electronic systems.Essential FunctionsPerforms surveillance for healthcare acquired infections by monitoring and evaluating infection control dataMonitors and reports communicable diseases as mandated by the public health departmentCompiles, monitors and reports Infection Control dataWillingly assists in the performance of other duties as delegated by Infection Control Practitioner (e.g. during periods of increased workload or absence of another employee).Education & ExperienceCurrent licensure to practice licensed vocational nursing in the State of California.Two years experience of clinical nursing in a hospital setting preferred.Skills & AbilitiesAbility to analyze, interpret, summarize data into information for reporting findings.Ability to graphically display data using various formats preferredStrong analytical and problem solving skillsEffective professional writing and interpersonal communications skillsKnowledge of computer software programs Word, Excel, E-mail, Power Point, and the internet/intranetKnowledge of Midas, eCW, Quadra-Med QCPR and Affinity; preferredKnowledge of DNV NIAHO Standards, Title 22, Conditions of Participation and ISO 9001-2008Time management skills, self-directed with time management skills.Ability to interact effectively with all customers, including but not limited to physicians, staff, patients, visitors, and surveyorsMaintains confidentiality of all information handled.Physical RequirementsVisual and hearing acuity adequate for reading and interpreting medical record data and communicating with providers, clinical staff, customers and teamsThe majority of the work is done in an office setting.
