Location Avera McKennan Hospital Worker Type Regular Shift Day Shift (United States of America) Pay Range $27.75 - $41.25 (actual pay depends on experience) Job Highlights This nurse will complete venous and central lab specimen collections for the oncology patient population. The position is located in the Prairie Center and serves the Avera Cancer Institute clinic patients. Hours: 7:30 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday. This location is closed on weekends and holidays. Role Summary The RN is responsible for the collection of line‑based specimens as well as peripheral vein phlebotomy. The RN provides front‑line evaluation of patient condition presentation to ensure any variance is brought to the attention of the appropriate clinician in a timely manner in accordance with established protocols. What You Will Do Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan and all pertinent information to other members of the health‑care team, coordinating with other health‑care providers, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends; conferring with physicians. Develop nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting physical condition, psychological status, and influencing social factors, conferring with family and friends, establishing a nursing diagnosis, setting nursing care objectives, and defining nursing interventions, schedules, and timetables. Teach health‑care requirements by establishing patient‑care goals, instructing patients, families, and friends on condition, medications, and self‑care skills, answering questions, and providing information and resources. Evaluate patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient‑care standards, reviewing patient records, noting changing conditions and needs, re‑evaluating care objectives, and modifying the nursing care plan. Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy patient‑care environment by adhering to infection‑control policies and protocols, medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled‑substance regulations; adhering to organization standard and policies, and to legal regulations; alerting others regarding potential concerns. Document patient‑care services by charting in patient and department records. Keep patient‑care equipment operating by following operating instructions and established procedures, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining supplies, performing preventive maintenance, and calling for repairs. Keep patient‑care supplies ready by checking stock, anticipating needs, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, and stocking items. Maintain competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Ability to work the specified hours.
