Warehouse Team Lead

SUMMARY Coordinates activities of workers engaged in shipping, verifying, receiving, and warehousing of production materials. Keeps records on outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments. Determines space requirements and positions shipments in trucks. Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications and seals truck doors. Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel or outside service facilities for repair. Makes and maintains vehicle maintenance reports. Directs movement of shipments from shipping and receiving platforms to storage and work areas. Posts weight and shipping charges. Issues written and oral instructions. Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates. Is computer literate and operates warehouse equipment. Specific duties include but are not limited to the following: Uses computer to look up locations for orders being shipped. Unloads shuttle trucks and places finished goods and parts in proper locations while filling out MMSD or scanning during unloading. Pulls orders for shipment; checks labels, weights, counts, and other data for accuracy. Fills out shipping pick lists with proper information. Loads freight when trucks arrive. Checks and verifies inventory as required. Tracks pallets in and out of the warehouse. Performs cycle counts and corrects inventory as necessary. Coordinates daily shipments with the scheduling department. Coordinates packing of export shipments, including ordering parts. Schedules overtime as needed. Completes and issues performance reviews for all warehouse team members. Verifies compliance of warehouse team members with applicable ISO documents. Can change the battery on an AGV and operate it when necessary. Pulls packing slips from bills of lading and attaches them to freight. Follows all work rules and policies. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE Two-year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have forklift certification. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to present information clearly and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the general public. MATHATICAL SKILLS Ability to calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. REASONING ABILITY Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, and hear. Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; sit, bend, stoop, twist, kneel, squat, or crawl. May be required to lift or move up to 40 pounds, 50 pounds, or occasionally 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities: close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles. Occasionally works near moving mechanical parts, in high precarious places, in outside weather conditions, and in wet or humid conditions. Noise level usually moderate.
