This leadership role offers the opportunity to lead a team advancing new battery cell formation and production automation technologies in support of GM’s electrification vision.What You’ll DoChampion safety in all development activitiesLead development and implementation of new automation and formation processes for battery cell manufacturingSupervise and develop a team focused on advanced battery cell manufacturing processesRecruit, coach, and develop team membersSet technology roadmap objectives aligned with GM’s electrification strategyManage development budgets and lab resourcesLead specification, procurement, and qualification of prototype equipment and toolingPartner with battery cell design, research, and manufacturing teams to bring new concepts into productionLead technical engagements with external partners and support co-development strategiesPresent project updates, development concepts, and recommendations to leadershipDrive continuous improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective actionsApply lean principles and structured problem-solving tools in process developmentProvide technical direction to support teams, vendors, labs, and plant manufacturing teamsTravel as needed for meetings and site visitsRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field5+ years of relevant engineering or manufacturing experience3+ years of experience in battery cell process developmentStrong knowledge of electrochemical engineeringExperience leading external technical partnershipsExperience leading implementation of new technologies or processesStrong communication, collaboration, and project management skillsDemonstrated ability to work independently with sound technical judgmentPreferred QualificationsStatistical problem-solving trainingExperience in manufacturing plant operationsExperience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement tools such as Minitab, Red X, or DFSS GM does not provide immigration-related sponsorship for this role.
