EMS Adjunct Instructor

Position Overview The Oklahoma City Community College EMS Adjunct Instructor is responsible for providing high quality instruction in courses such as EMT and Paramedic Labs, EMT and Paramedic Program Courses, and Clinical Instruction. The role supports curriculum integrity, encourages student success, and promotes the college mission. Safety-sensitive position: Mandatory pre-employment drug testing, random drug testing, and a background check are required. Key Responsibilities Teach courses in classroom, lab, or clinical settings. Develop clear objectives, engaging activities, effective presentations, fair grading, and timely feedback. Support students’ learning needs, maintain a positive classroom atmosphere, and offer office hours and communication with supervisors. Participate in the adjunct orientation each semester. Serve as a mentor, role model, and professional representative (business-casual attire). Document and notify the EMS Program Director of student absences or issues. Follow all EMS Program guidelines, college policies, and safety procedures; complete quarterly health and safety training and participate in emergency drills. Qualifications Associate’s Degree. State EMS Instructor Certification. Valid Paramedic license with National Registry Certification. Minimum of two years EMS experience. Positive human-relations and communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software. Flexible teaching style that accommodates learner differences. Willingness to learn Moodle and other departmental computer programs. Strong organization, attention to detail, punctuality, and reliability. Ability to work independently, coordinate with peers, and participate as a team member. Clear verbal and written communication of concepts. Physical Demands The position requires occasional lifting up to 50 pounds, frequent moving around classrooms and labs, standing for long periods, and operating computers and mobile devices. Essential functions are performed both indoors and outdoors. Employment Details Part-time, day, evening, or weekend hours as needed; campus or online as required.
