Most firms will tell you there's a path to Partnership. What they tend to leave out is who's actually retiring, when it's happening and whether there's genuinely a seat at the table.

Well, here's one where those questions already have answers.

One of the current Partners is planning to retire within the next 4 years, and rather than leave succession planning until the last minute, the firm wants to bring someone in now who can gradually take over responsibilities, build client relationships and position themselves to step into Partnership.

Essentially, they're looking for someone who wants their next career move to be their last one before becoming Partner.

You'll be joining an established CPA firm with a loyal client base, a strong reputation and Partners who genuinely want to invest in the next generation of leadership.

They're not looking for someone to simply review returns and keep things ticking over. They want someone who can take ownership, solve problems, become a technical resource for the team and eventually have a real say in how the firm is run.

You won't be expected to know everything on day one. You'll have time to learn the business, get to know the clients and gradually take on more responsibility as the existing Partner prepares to retire.

It's succession planning that's actually happening, rather than something mentioned once a year during your performance review.

The culture is another reason this opportunity stands out. The Partners trust their people, don't believe in micromanagement and care far more about the quality of your work than watching the clock.

You'll have autonomy, flexibility and direct access to the decision makers, without the unnecessary layers of management that often come with larger firms.

As Tax Manager, you'll oversee engagements, manage client relationships, review complex returns, mentor staff and work closely with the Partners on the continued growth of the practice.

They're looking for a CPA with strong Public Accounting experience, ideally at Manager level or above.

You'll need broad tax knowledge across 1040s, 1120S, 1065s, 1120s and 1041s, particularly trusts and estates, alongside experience with real estate clients, developers, passive loss rules and NOLs.

Just as importantly, you'll need to be confident with clients, comfortable working independently and genuinely interested in becoming a Partner.
