Hire Curated is assisting Locale in hiring a Purchasing and Inventory Manager.

About Locale

Locale prepares and delivers high protein meals to customers across California on a weekly subscription. We source from local organic producers, cook without seed oils or processed ingredients, have every batch independently lab tested for contaminants, and package in reusable glass. Maintaining standards that specifically depend on disciplined purchasing and accurate inventory.

Position summary

The Purchasing and Inventory Manager is responsible for the accuracy and quality of ordering, receiving and inventory across our production operation. This role places and tracks purchase orders, verifies that deliveries match what was ordered, maintains product and pricing data, and ensures that projected food costs align with actual spend.

Key responsibilities

• Place purchase orders accurately and on schedule, ensuring the correct items, units, quantities and delivery dates.
• Manage the receiving function and set the standard for how deliveries are documented.
• Verify and document all incoming deliveries, including vendor shipments, drop shipments and third party purchases. Identify shortages, damages and substitutions, and pursue credits.
• Maintain product records in Airtable, including case sizes, count methods, unit costs and pricing.
• Update vendor pricing and keep cost data current.
• Source vendors and products, and evaluate pricing on existing items.
• Conduct and reconcile inventory counts.
• Monitor variance between projected and actual food costs, investigate discrepancies and report findings.
• Communicate cost increases and supply risks to leadership before they affect production.

Required qualifications

• Proficiency with spreadsheets and Airtable, or comparable database experience with the ability to learn Airtable quickly.
• Prior management experience.
• Working knowledge of food products, including the ability to identify items on sight and recognize when an incorrect product has been delivered.
• Strong organizational skills and a high level of attention to detail, particularly with numbers and counts.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and take ownership of outcomes.

Preferred qualifications

• Purchasing or buying experience in food production, restaurants, catering or grocery.
• Basic food safety knowledge.
• Conversational Spanish.
