Senior Regional Advisor (Houston, Texas) Agency: Texas A \u2013 M University Department Undergraduate Recruitment Job Type: Staff • Location: Houston, Texas Salary: $50,000.00 – $55,000.00 per annum Cover Letter & Resume recommended Job Summary A dynamic, senior‑level role that spearheads admission, financial aid, and early outreach strategies to attract and enroll talented students. The Advisor mentors and trains staff, leads key recruitment programs, and provides leadership support to Assistant Directors. Responsibilities Recruit underserved students from designated high schools and regions Guide prospective students and parents through admissions, scholarships, and financial aid processes Coordinate with high school counselors and implement recruitment activities such as campus visits, presentations, and workshops Manage program expenses and provide budget updates Organize and report on programs, including marketing, accommodations, and events Travel to high schools and community colleges for visits and presentations Distribute admissions information through various programs and visits Collaborate with external organizations on recruitment activities Assist admitted students with next‑step planning and provide information on pathways, housing, orientation, and campus resources Advise students on financial aid options and present scholarship and financial aid programs Work with the Financial Aid Office to adjust awards as needed Interact with high school faculty and staff to enhance student counseling and advisement Develop and manage early awareness programs for recruitment and financial aid Conduct presentations and work at resource tables Develop community contacts and relationships with university departments to enhance customer service Assist in creating admissions and financial aid materials Present at local, state, and regional conferences Maintain knowledge of financial aid and admissions regulations; attend workshops and conferences Serve on university committees and lead major office programs Mentor and train subordinate advisors on admissions and financial aid Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience Four years of experience in admissions, recruitment, advising, financial aid, or outreach, including at least two years within university admissions and undergraduate recruitment Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to work well with students, parents, and diverse student populations Experience in producing reports, analysis, and evaluation of recruitment activities Proficiency in student information systems such as Banner, AIS, Howdy, MOSES, SLATE, or TAMUDocs Ability to design, develop, conduct, and assess effective programs and presentations for varied audiences Strong project‑management and organizational practices; ability to multi‑task and re‑prioritize assignments under interruptions Familiarity with the assigned territory as it relates to university admissions and recruitment Preferred Qualifications Three or more years of direct experience within university recruitment/enrollment management A Class "C" vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment Master’s degree Bilingual in Spanish More than four years of professional experience in higher education admissions, recruitment, student advising, student financial aid, or student services Professional experience within TAMUS Customer service experience in higher education Participation in TACAC or TACRAO programs or other professional organizations related to admissions, recruitment, or student services Demonstrated knowledge of principles and methods of admissions, marketing, and enrollment General knowledge of higher education institution academic requirements and admission policies Travel & Physical Demands Extensive travel is required. The position requires evenings and weekends and the ability to lift or move heavy weight boxes independently.
