Job Title

Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical / Telemetry (Float Pool)

Location

Denver Metro Area, Colorado (Zone-Based Float – Multiple Facilities within a 60-Mile Radius)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM | Full-Time | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care across multiple Medical Surgical and Telemetry units within an assigned geographic float zone, covering facilities within a 60-mile radius of the Denver city center
• Care for an adult and geriatric patient population with diagnoses including cardiac, neurological, orthopedic, oncology, renal, urology, general surgery, gynecology, psych/detox, ENT, and general medicine
• Titrate Heparin drips and manage patients requiring RT equipment such as vents, CPAP, and BiPAP
• Maintain a patient assignment ratio of 1:5–6 based on acuity, with support from nurse aides and a designated charge nurse on each unit
• Adapt to two scheduling formats: a set single-facility week assignment or a Just-In-Time (JIT) model with facility notification 1–2 hours before shift start
• Participate in weekend rotation (6–9 shifts per 6-week schedule) and may be included in holiday rotation

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in the state of Colorado
• Minimum of 2 years of Medical Surgical / Telemetry experience
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Ability to float throughout the full 60-mile zone and obtain housing that makes zone-wide floating feasible
• Must be present in-state for the full week of orientation, even if initial modules are completed remotely
• Flexibility to float to varying acuity levels including ICU (low-acuity holds), PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele units as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a neurological nursing setting
• Experience working in a float pool or multi-facility environment
• Familiarity with specialty units such as cardiac, oncology, rehab, renal, bariatrics, ortho, trauma, or ED observation
