Quality Inspector II

Reports To: Quality Assurance Manager
Status: Non-Exempt

Position Description

The Quality Inspector II is responsible for independently performing incoming, in-process, and final inspections of raw materials, work-in-process, and finished products to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, customer requirements, manufacturing documentation, and applicable quality standards.

This position is expected to work with minimal supervision, accurately document inspection results, identify nonconformances, and support production by ensuring only conforming product is accepted or released.

Position Responsibilities

Inspection

• Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections independently.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, SOPs, MPIs, work instructions, and inspection forms.
• Utilize inspection equipment including calipers, micrometers, microscopes, pin gauges, optical comparators, tensile testers, and other measuring devices.
• Verify product conforms to dimensional, visual, and documentation requirements.
• Ensure measuring equipment is properly calibrated prior to use.

Documentation & Quality Records

• Record inspection results accurately and maintain complete quality records.
• Enter and retrieve inspection data within Plex and other company systems.
• Review manufacturing documentation for completeness and accuracy.
• Assist with preparation and review of Certificates of Conformance and other quality documentation.
• Maintain audit-ready records in accordance with company procedures.

Nonconformance & Quality Support

• Identify, document, and segregate nonconforming material.
• Initiate Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) and provide supporting inspection data.
• Escalate quality concerns, documentation discrepancies, or unclear requirements to Quality leadership.
• Support investigations, reinspection activities, and verification of corrective actions.
• Communicate effectively with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments regarding quality issues.

Continuous Improvement

• Assist with training and mentoring less experienced inspectors.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and recommend process improvements.
• Support internal audits, calibration activities, and other Quality department initiatives as assigned.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Two or more years of quality inspection experience or equivalent manufacturing experience.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring equipment.
• Working knowledge of dimensional inspection, sampling methods, and quality documentation.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in medical device, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
• Experience using Plex or similar ERP/QMS software.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001, AS9100, or ISO 13485 quality systems.

• Ability to perform visual inspections requiring close vision and depth perception.
