AJ Chambers are delighted to be working with a highly regarded New York law firm seeking an experienced Commercial Real Estate Attorney / Real Estate Counsel with approximately 10-15 years of sophisticated commercial real estate transactional experience.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Real Estate Attorney, Real Estate Counsel or senior Real Estate Associate to take on significant responsibility across complex commercial real estate transactions, working directly with sophisticated clients including developers, investors, lenders, landlords and tenants.
The practice handles a broad range of commercial real estate transactions, including acquisitions and dispositions, commercial leasing and real estate finance.
The successful candidate will be able to independently manage sophisticated transactions from initial structuring and negotiation through documentation, closing and post closing matters.

Key Responsibilities
- Advise developers, investors, lenders, landlords and tenants on sophisticated commercial real estate matters
- Handle commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions from due diligence through closing
- Draft, review and negotiate purchase and sale agreements
- Negotiate and draft commercial leases and related leasing documentation
- Advise clients on commercial real estate financing transactions
- Draft and negotiate loan and financing documents
- Manage transaction due diligence and closing processes
- Identify and resolve legal and commercial issues throughout transactions
- Negotiate directly with opposing counsel and other transaction parties
- Manage multiple complex transactions independently
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships
- Work collaboratively with partners and other attorneys
- Supervise and mentor junior attorneys where appropriate
Required Qualifications
- New York Bar admission required
- Approximately 10-15+ years of commercial real estate transactional experience
- Experience gained within a law firm environment
- Significant experience with:
- Commercial leasing
- Real estate acquisitions
- Real estate dispositions
- Commercial real estate finance
- Proven ability to independently manage sophisticated real estate transactions from inception through closing
- Strong drafting and contract negotiation skills
- Excellent legal research, analytical and written communication skills
- Strong client relationship and communication skills
- Experience advising sophisticated commercial real estate clients
Preferred Experience
The following would be advantageous:
- Experience across multiple commercial real estate asset classes
- Real estate development experience
- Florida Bar admission
- Experience handling Florida real estate transactions
- Existing client relationships
- Business development and client origination experience
- Experience supervising or mentoring junior attorneys
- Experience working with institutional investors, developers, lenders or major landlords and tenants
Compensation & Benefits
