Overview
As a part-time instructor you will provide instruction within our Automotive Technician program. Courses will be taught in the Blackboard learning management system platform in a lab environment to meet the needs of this growing industry. Instructors need to lead courses that engage and prepare students for careers in their area of study.

Responsibilities

1. Provide instruction for assigned classes.
2. Remain current with industry needs and assure graduate outcomes that meet the workplace expectations.
3. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
4. Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
5. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
6. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.
7. Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods.
8. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught.
9. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
10. Hold weekly office hours, and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs.

Qualifications

1. Associate Degree in Automotive, Diesel, Transportation, or related field. (or Degree Plan to achieve Associate Degree within 3 years of hire.)
2. Two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in an automotive service technician or related position of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to the date of hire. One year (2,000 hours) of recent related experience may be waived if the applicant has at least 2years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years of the date of hire.
3. Current ASE Master Certified A1-A8 or
   • G1-Maintenance and Light Repair
   • A6-Electrical/Electronic Systems
   • A4-Suspension and Steering
   • A5-Brakes
