Civil Engineering Lead - Aviation Location: Knoxville, TN; Atlanta, GA; or Duluth, GA Job ID: 7722 | # Positions: 1 | Category: Aviation Overview Lead the future of aviation infrastructure as a civil engineering lead, guiding engineering teams and supporting project delivery while mentoring junior engineers. This role combines technical project leadership with people leadership and offers the opportunity to grow into a formal management position. What You’ll Do Plan, design, and deliver civil infrastructure projects for airports, including airfields, terminals, roadways, parking facilities, utilities, and site development. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high‑quality projects on schedule and within budget. Mentor, coach, and support the professional development of junior engineers while fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team environment. Assist with assigning work, balancing team workloads, and supporting day‑to‑day project execution in partnership with senior leadership. Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, and technical quality while ensuring successful project delivery. Build strong relationships with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal project teams. Support business development by participating in proposals, client meetings, and project pursuits. Perform periodic field observations during construction, participate in progress meetings, and support construction administration activities as needed. What You Bring Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (required). Minimum of 4 years of progressive civil engineering experience in civil site design, land development, municipal infrastructure, transportation, aviation, or other horizontal infrastructure projects. Professional Engineer (PE) license (required). Demonstrated experience leading projects, mentoring junior engineers, or coordinating technical teams. Previous formal management experience is preferred but not required. Experience managing project budgets, schedules, and client relationships. Strong experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, or comparable civil engineering software. Working knowledge of QA/QC processes, engineering standards, and project delivery. Excellent communication, organizational, and relationship‑building skills. Interest in growing into a larger leadership role while continuing to contribute technically. Participation in professional engineering organizations is a plus. Salary Range $120,000 - $130,000 Salary is based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
