VP Ambulatory Operations-Physician Enterprise

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Vice President of Operations for the Physician Enterprise, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across a large, complex, multi-specialty physician enterprise, helping translate organizational strategy into consistent execution across ambulatory practices, service lines, and clinical locations. You will partner closely with physician and administrative leaders to strengthen clinic operations, improve performance, create operational readiness, and advance an integrated approach to care across the market. The formal scope includes operational strategy, financial and operational management, service integration, and leadership across assigned areas within the CHI Health Physician Enterprise. Every day, you will work across the Physician Enterprise to support day-to-day ambulatory and clinic operations while also advancing longer-term strategic priorities. You will collaborate with physician-administrator dyad and triad partners, service line leaders, hospital presidents, the market executive team, and Physician Enterprise leadership to improve access, quality, patient experience, growth, standardization, financial performance, and operational effectiveness. You will oversee resources and budgets, develop performance measures and scorecards, identify scalable opportunities across locations, and help integrate hospital- and clinic-based services. You will also play an important role in developing leaders across a geographically dispersed organization, providing coaching, accountability, and strategic support in a combination of in-person and virtual environments. The JD specifically identifies collaborative clinic leadership, strategic planning, operational optimization, performance monitoring, budget/resource allocation, talent development, compliance, and continuous improvement as core responsibilities. To be successful in this role, you will bring significant healthcare operations leadership experience with a strong ambulatory and physician practice foundation. You will understand the complexities of leading across multiple specialties and locations and be comfortable working within physician-administrator dyad structures. You will be an influential, highly communicative executive who can build credibility with physicians and senior leaders, develop high-performing teams, and move complex initiatives forward even when you do not have direct reporting authority. Experience within an academic health system or similarly complex integrated healthcare environment is highly valued. Most importantly, you will be able to move comfortably between strategy and execution—creating direction at the enterprise level while ensuring that plans translate into meaningful operational results. Key Job Responsibilities Provide operational leadership across a complex, multi-specialty Physician Enterprise, supporting ambulatory and clinic operations while advancing strategic priorities across assigned service areas. Partner closely with physician-administrator dyad and triad leaders to strengthen clinic operations and build effective relationships with physicians, advanced practice providers, leaders, and staff. Develop and execute multi-horizon operational strategies and action plans aligned with organizational priorities, value-based care objectives, and evolving healthcare delivery models. Lead efforts to integrate hospital- and clinic-based services, promote operational consistency, and identify opportunities to standardize and scale successful practices across locations. Provide strategic and operational support to service line leaders, hospital presidents, market executives, and Physician Enterprise leadership, effectively influencing across organizational boundaries and through relationships rather than direct authority alone. Develop and manage operational and strategic performance measures, using data to identify variation, improve access and growth, strengthen patient and provider experience, and drive accountability for results. Oversee budgets and resource allocation, ensuring financial stewardship and alignment of personnel and other resources with strategic and operational priorities. Lead and develop a geographically dispersed leadership team through coaching, performance management, succession development, clear accountability, and intentional engagement across in-person and virtual environments. Support provider and staff recruitment, retention, onboarding, and development while building scalable leadership and operational practices across the enterprise. Lead change initiatives and operational readiness efforts associated with new programs, services, technologies, partnerships, and evolving care delivery models. Support accreditation, licensure, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement in partnership with Physician Enterprise and service line leadership. Promote improvement across engagement, quality, service, patient experience, growth and access, technology, standardization, stewardship, and academic priorities Job Requirements Required Bachelor’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field. Significant progressive leadership experience within ambulatory, physician practice, medical group, or Physician Enterprise operations. Demonstrated experience leading complex healthcare operations across multiple locations, specialties, or service areas. Demonstrated ability to develop leaders and high-performing teams. Experience partnering with physicians and senior healthcare leaders and influencing outcomes across complex organizational structures. Must lives in NE/IA and Omaha/metro area location preferred. Preferred Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare, or a related field. Experience working within a physician-administrator dyad or triad leadership model. Multi-specialty physician practice or medical group leadership experience. Experience within an academic health system or academic medical environment. Experience leading geographically dispersed teams through a combination of in-person and virtual leadership.

As part of CHI Health’s Physician Enterprise, this role will support a large, multi-specialty network of approximately 1,500 providers across 66 specialties, partnering with leaders across ambulatory practices, service lines, and hospitals.
