LOCATION : Rapid City, SD

POSITION TYPE: Full-time, permanent

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse with a dialysis background to step into a key Nurse Educator role supporting clinical teams in Rapid City and Spearfish, South Dakota. The position is based in Rapid City and requires regular travel to Spearfish for onsite staff education and training.

 

This is an excellent opportunity for a dialysis RN who enjoys teaching, mentoring, developing others, and helping clinical teams deliver safe, consistent, high-quality patient care. Rather than carrying a traditional patient assignment, you’ll focus on preparing new team members for success, strengthening the skills of existing staff, and supporting clinical and regulatory standards across the facilities you serve.

 

The ideal candidate is an experienced dialysis nurse who enjoys helping others grow and is comfortable combining clinical expertise, education, leadership, and compliance responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities :

• Deliver clinical and classroom education for nurses, patient care technicians, and other dialysis team members.
• Guide newly hired clinical staff through dialysis training and evaluate their readiness to work independently
• Coordinate and support facility preceptors while monitoring employee training progress.
• Provide ongoing education when procedures, clinical standards, or operational requirements change.
• Identify learning needs and develop additional education when gaps in performance or compliance are identified.
• Conduct annual competency assessments and provide remediation or additional instruction when necessary.
• Review clinical documentation, infection-prevention practices, and regulatory requirements to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Partner with facility leadership and medical staff on policies, procedures, and corrective action plans.
• Help prepare clinical teams for state and federal surveys and provide follow-up education when deficiencies are identified.
• Manage required new-hire, annual, and continuing education assignments and monitor timely completion.
• Maintain oversight of required professional licenses, credentials, and certifications.
• Track PCT certification requirements and help ensure eligible team members complete certification within required timeframes.
• Coordinate or facilitate CPR training as needed.
• Serve as an educational resource and clinical mentor to staff across both locations. 

 

Required Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program
• Current South Dakota RN license
• Minimum of 2 years of dialysis experience
• Current CPR/AED certification
• Strong communication, teaching, and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated clinical judgment and problem-solving ability
• Ability to work collaboratively with nurses, technicians, leadership, and other members of the care team
• Ability and willingness to travel regularly between Rapid City and Spearfish

 

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 6 months of charge nurse experience.
• Previous experience training, precepting, mentoring, or educating clinical staff.
• Familiarity with dialysis compliance, infection prevention, survey readiness, or quality improvement.
