Working onsite full time in Melbourne, FL, the role involves scheduled appointments, occasional evenings and weekends, and minimal travel. The specialist facilitates academic planning, executive function coaching, social skills instruction, and independent living training while coordinating with a multidisciplinary team to support students’ growth in all CIP program areas. Responsibilities Support students in achieving academic goals, majors, and degree paths Assist students in navigating educational institution services and accommodations Coach students on executive function skills for managing coursework Communicate academic progress to Academic Coordinator and/or Assistant Program Director Teach related skills that facilitate success in higher education through individual and group sessions Instruct students on social skills curriculum, including communication, awareness, behavior and confidence Support program areas of Reframing, PEERS, and Social Mentoring Accompany students to community venues, clubs, and activities to practice social skills Assess student social skill strengths and challenges, set goals accordingly Produce and communicate individual social thinking notes, monthly group notes, and progress reports to the Social Skills Coordinator Assist in planning and supervising weekend activities with life skills team Help students build independent living competencies such as maintenance, cooking, cleaning, and time management Lead grocery shopping outings and provide transportation as needed Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to support academic, career, social, and wellness growth Ensure a safe health environment for students and the community Conduct executive functioning appointments and coordinate with staff as needed Use de‑escalation techniques to handle student challenges Passionate about helping individuals with learning disabilities reach their full potential *Other duties as assigned Qualities You Possess Exceptional communication skills Precise attention to detail, superior organization, and prioritization Self‑motivation and task completion focus Empathy and awareness of student and staff needs Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (highly preferred) High School Diploma (required) At least two years of related experience and/or training (required) Strong special education background, particularly higher education (preferred) Experience with autism and/or learning differences (highly required) Proficiency with office software and learning new company software (required) Active driver’s license (required) Disability Accommodation Statement Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this job position.
