Details Work on a 12-bed specialized inpatient unit caring for adult patients with complex medical conditions, co-occurring behavioral health needs, and substance use disorders Unit focuses on assessment, stabilization, and treatment through integrated medical and behavioral health interventions Multidisciplinary team approach including physicians, nurses, therapists, case managers, and addiction specialists 1:6 patient ratios Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:45pm-7:15am Weekend requirement of every other weekend or 6 weekend shifts in a 6-week scheduling block Floating required within skillset May be required to work as charge nurse and to precept Facility may call off up to 1 shift per 2-week period EPIC charting system experience required Requirements Active VA State or Compact RN license required (single-state license from non-compact state may be accepted pending) Current BLS certification required Prior travel nursing experience required Minimum 1 year of charge nurse experience Proficient in Med/Surg care with experience using Rapid Response/Code teams Skilled in peripheral line care/management, IV therapy/phlebotomy, and isolation precautions/PPE Experienced in respiratory care including nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, and oxygen administration/tanks EPIC charting experience required Additional Information Provide integrated medical and behavioral health nursing care supporting patients experiencing substance withdrawal, behavioral challenges, and mental health concerns Support recovery-oriented treatment, medication management, behavioral support, and discharge planning Work in a Level I Trauma Center (adult and pediatric) that is also a certified stroke center and Magnet-designated teaching hospital Must work one holiday per 13-week contract, with 2 holidays required during winter holiday period (Thanksgiving, Christmas/Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve/New Year's) First-time travelers will not be accepted for this position Local candidates accepted, subject to radius rule criteria Previous employees (per diem or permanent) must have a minimum one-year break before returning as a traveler Travelers who have worked 365 days on assignment are not eligible to return, regardless of separation period, with case-by-case exceptions reviewed by facility leadership American Traveler Job ID P-744807.
