MRI Technologist

The primary purpose of the position is to perform all required Magnetic Resonance Imaging and CT scanning procedures in accordance with established Radiological protocols.

Work is performed in a hospital/outpatient health clinic environment. There is common exposure to infectious communicable disease, potentially hazardous chemicals, and biohazardous materials. Incumbent must be aware of all risks involved and be willing to take precautions as required and requested. Special attire may be required as protection against infection and radiation.

Work requires long periods of standing and walking. Working with patients requires recurring bending, lifting, stretching and positioning patients. Ability to lift in excess of 50 pounds is required to perform positional duties.

Satisfactory job performance will be determined by successful execution of the following:

1. Perform all required diagnostic MRI or CT scanning procedures.
2. Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated.
3. Educate and prepare patients for examinations.
4. Perform any necessary clerical work related to the obtaining of previous reports, X-Ray films, etc.
5. Recognize and initiate treatment of allergic reactions and notify physician.
6. Maintain MRI and CT scanning equipment is in good operating order.
7. Check and maintain emergency equipment within the scanning suite.
8. Responsible for the cleanliness of work area and equipment assigned.
9. Keep abreast of current technical literature and evaluates new procedures and techniques for the purpose of recommending them to the Radiology Supervisor.
10. Provide CD of MRI or CT images for distribution to the patient's physicians and other hospitals.
11. Maintain quality control of MRI or CT equipment to ensure that both the computer and radiographic equipment are operating properly.
12. Responsible for maintaining Continuing Education (CE's) and certifications as required.
13. Regular attendance is required.
14. Performs other duties as required by Radiology Supervisor.
15. Reports directly to the MRI/CT Supervisor.
