This job guides accounting staff and provides training and support with respect to the departmental reporting system. Participates in the budget process by budgeting various general ledger expense accounts and guides other staff in the same task. Maintains the departmental budgeting and reporting system and produces the monthly departmental financial statements. Acts as a liaison between department directors and financial departments; analyzes assigned accounts or a specific entity's income statements, prepares journal entries and account reconciliations, implements and maintains accounting control procedures, and assists with the financial audit preparation and the coordination of the annual audit process. Preferred - Master's degree in business administration (MBA). Work Experience Required - 3 years of related experience. Certifications Preferred - Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs) Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally. Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications. Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills. Ability to travel throughout and between facility locations and work various hours, such as nights, weekends, etc. Job Duties Provides guidance and training to accounting staff. Analyzes various budget expense items, identifies reconciling items, and identifies internal controls needed. Supervises the maintenance of various system files used in departmental reporting and cost allocation systems. Produces and disseminates departmental financial statements. Acts as a liaison between finance and operations and guides other accountants in the same function by providing direction and prioritizing departmental requests. Provides research and education to departmental leadership regarding departmental financial transactions. Reviews monthly departmental financial statements prior to dissemination and facilitates corrective action if necessary. Participates in special financial projects and composes various ad hoc financial reports as required by management. Performs other related duties as required.
