Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

The Manager - Child Life manages the operations and teams of Child Life Specialists. The Manager is responsible for the budget management, patient satisfaction, communication, operating efficiency and staff development. This position provides leadership to ensure attainment of functional objectives, development, and serves as a resource to patients, families, and staff, as well as, collaborates with organizational leaders to enhance the resources available and provided to patients and families via child life services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the hospital's policies and procedures, including its Service Standards and its Code of Conduct.

* Responsible for the direction, evaluation and continuing development of the child life specialist teams.
* Oversees the day-to-day operations of the child life teams, including but not limited to the oversight of child life specialists and others as needed.
* Manages program content, contracts and licensing agreements associated with child life services.
* Leads short term strategic planning and expansion for the child life program and is fully accountable for the results.
* Plans, implements and evaluates improvements to operational workflow and processes.
* Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders in planning for division special events and donations
* Oversees the child life internship for the division.
* Develops staffing models for the child life program.
* Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, and coaches staff in assigned areas.
* Evaluates annual performance for staff, completes and delivers employee performance appraisals.
* Collaborates with the department leadership and provides input on the development of annual goals and reports. Supports the implementation of department goals and objectives.
* Performs all fiscal responsibilities for the child life program, reviewing and approving expenditures within budget limits; assists director with budget preparation.
* Develops, creates and maintains policies and procedures, as well as standard work for all areas; oversees the performance improvement activities and initiatives.
* Enforces and complies with regulatory and compliance requirements (HIPPA, The Joint Commission, etc.).
* Collaborates with the director on the financial resources and support provided by the foundation.
* Manages all division vendor contracts, ensuring that they are maintained and renewed in a timely manner.
* Implements plans, strategies, policies and procedures designed to promote and carry out the goals, objectives, mission, and vision of the organization.
* Participates on cross-organizational teams, committees and special projects both internal and external to the organization.
* Maintains accurate child life statistics for quality assurance efforts.

Qualifications

MINIMUM

QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities as well as possession of any required licenses or certifications is qualifying.

Education: Bachelor's degree in a work/health-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years experience in a health care setting or another related area preferred.

License/Certification:

• Certified Child Life Specialist by Association of Child Life Professionals

Pay Range
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role.
Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.
Minimum to Midpoint Range (Hourly): $50.42 to $65.55
