This role requires a flexible schedule based on athletic event demands. Work hours will include weekdays, evenings, and weekends depending on practice schedules, games, and special events. Some travel to away games and tournaments will be required. Job Summary
UK HealthCare Sports Medicine is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Athletic Trainer. Your primary focus will be the daily medical coverage, injury prevention, assessment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play planning for athletes within the university's athletics system. You'll act as a liaison between players, coaches, and healthcare professionals to ensure the health, safety, and well-being of athletes. Additional duties include: Managing medical documentation and injury tracking. Coordinating with UK HealthCare's physicians and rehabilitation specialists for athlete referrals. Assisting with emergency planning and response protocols at training and match facilities. Promoting education and awareness regarding injury prevention and performance optimization. Supporting event coverage and medical operations for events and teams as needed. We are looking for a candidate who excels in communication, adaptability, and relationship-building, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and evolving sports environment. Strong understanding of sports injury prevention, evaluation, and rehabilitation techniques. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with athletes, coaches, and families. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Proficient in EMR documentation and basic administrative tasks. Bachelors degree in Athletic Training required; Masters degree preferred. National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification (NATABOC) Required.
